Developed by Dr. Cynthia Hollingsworth, LCSW-QS, MBA, Dr.H.Sc,
You answered the call to serve and you served with honor, dedication, and sacrifice.
Now, you deserve a place to reclaim your peace, identity, and sense of self.
Coming home from service can bring challenges that few truly understand:
These responses do not make you weak.
They speak to your strength, loyalty, and survival intelligence.
Your training helped you stay alive.
Now it’s time to help yourself live.
To support veterans in the mission to come home to themselves —
emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and relationally.
The battle is over.
The mission within begins.
MISSION: WITHIN™ reframes veteran recovery as a sacred inner mission—a journey to rescue the self, the inner child, and the emotions left behind in service. Grounded in the Amplified Wound Theory™, the model asserts that military culture rarely creates trauma in isolation; instead, it amplifies pre-existing attachment wounds by rewarding emotional suppression, hyper-control, and self-sacrifice. When service ends, these magnified wounds re-emerge as depression, anxiety, moral injury, and identity collapse. Integrating attachment theory, schema therapy, and somatic psychology, MISSION: WITHIN™ guides veterans through four healing phases - Reclaim, Integrate, Strengthen, Evolve; transforming survival into purpose and discipline into compassion.
Phase Focus
Reclaim Understand emotional patterns shaped by early life and amplified by service
Integrate Process trauma stored in the body & nervous system
Strengthen Build emotional discipline, confidence & relationships
Evolve Rediscover purpose, identity & peace beyond the uniform
